Here is an example of how to get a great deal, the extreme couponing way. I just finished this last night, so I wanted to share what I was able to do. Although the Groupon deal is dead (yet has come back a couple of times), this will hopefully get your wheels turning on how to stretch and get the best deals possible.
The original Groupon deal was for a $25 Papa John’s gift card and 2 pizzas for $25, which is already a great deal. You can see the original post here: Save 80% On a Papa John’s Gift Card and 2 Large Pizzas!!!! THROUGH TOMORROW ONLY!!! . Here is what I did:
I purchased the deal through Ebates, a GREAT cash back site that gives you money back on your online shopping at thousands of retailers. If this were my first time shopping with them, I would have earned an additional $10 gift card, which would have made this deal even more incredible!
Papa John’s $55 Groupon Deal, $25
= $25.00, get 1% cash back from credit card ($0.25) and 6% cash back from Ebates ($1.50)
Redeemed 2 pizzas, and then I had the gift card left. I waited for a promotion on top of a promotion, and here is what I got:
Spend $15 this week, get a free pizza. I also combined this with a 2 pizza for $13.99 deal:
2 Pizzas $13.99
1 Garlic Knots $5.25
= $20.96 (including tax) for all 3, earned a free pizza
I just redeemed the free pizza, and wanted to use up the remaining gift card balance:
1 3 topping Pizza (FREE)
1 Garlic Knots $5.25
= $5.72 (including tax) for both, used $4.04 remaining on gift card
= $1.68 OOP, get 1% cash back from credit card ($0.02)
Final = $23.23
So just to recap, I spent $23.23 total to get FIVE Papa John’s Pizzas, and two orders of Garlic Knots (that’s $4.65 each with two free orders of bread)! This is a great example of how to use great deals with additional promotions to be able to stretch that dollar even further!!
