Amazon has an amazing Subscribe & Save program that will allow you to receive items that you use all of the time, shipped to your home automatically. As a thank you for signing up for this program, they will give you 5% off of each of your items, plus free shipping! You can cancel at any time and still keep the savings, so you are not locked into any plan. If you receive at least 5 items delivered in a month, you will then get 15% (or 20% for baby items!) off of your purchase, allowing you to really save big. In addition, items that are super cheap as part of the Add-On Program are frequently included on Subscribe & Save, and you don’t have to get any minimum to use this service. The Add-On program offers huge discounts, but requires a $25 minimum in order to ship (otherwise the sale of these items is cost-prohibitive). This Add-On program is a great way to get HUGE price breaks, and will require the minimum $25 to ship unless it is included in Subscribe & Save in which case you DO NOT have to hit the $25 minimum in order to ship them, as long as you use Subscribe & Save (and will STILL get an additional 5-20% off the super low Add-On price!).
As if that wasn’t enough, there are also Subscribe & Save Coupons HERE or on the product page on Amazon that will allow you to save even more. The thing to remember about the coupons is that they are each only good one time (20% off, or $5 off, or whatever), on just that one item. NOTE that the coupons are off of the original price, so a 20% off coupon will be based on the ORIGINAL, pre-subscription discounted price! Sometimes it actually makes sense to add additional items on Subscribe & Save, because the cost of the item is LESS than what you will save by having at least 5 items deliver. I have had Dog Treats, First Aid Antibiotic Ointment, Gillette Razors, Purina Dog Food, and more delivered for $2 just to make sure that I hit the 5+ requirement, as the overall savings on the 5 items exceeds the price of adding the 1-2 additional items that month. Orders are closed to be modified about a week before shipping, so I just add a note every month a few days before that to double check my Pending Subscribe & Save Orders and add or skip the items delivering in the next shipment. These are the orders that I have delivering next month, and I just keep subtracting the “filler items” every time I add a Subscribe & Save item to make sure that I only order 5 items at a time (usually, unless it really is something we can’t wait for). Note that it says the last day to update the order, as well as the delivery date (which can always be updated).
When your subscription comes around to send again, it will send based on the current price when it ships (you set the frequency). I would recommend keeping an eye on these, but pausing or un-enrolling is super simple as well. It is absolutely worth it in our household to be able to save and take advantage of these sale prices, and then we can just discontinue the subscription when the item comes if we don’t want to continue. Finding these items has been pretty difficult, until now. There is even a decent listing of the add-on items, although that one is not as all-inclusive as the Subscribe & Save ones. Add-On HACK: Also, you can order Add-On items on Amazon by themselves with no additional items by adding the Add-On item to your cart, plus adding a pre-order item (think DVD or book) as well. After the “Add-On” item ships, you will be able to cancel the preorder item if you don’t still want it, and the Add-On will still have shipped at no charge.
