4 Ingredient Basic Bread Recipe: Make No-Knead Bread With 5 Minutes Of Work!!!

I have just baked my first loaf of bread, and I am SO excited to share! This is a SUPER simple recipe that can be made without kneading, without a mixing machine, and with just 4 ingredients. You can also customize it with whatever additional flavors you are looking for by adding anything from garlic to rosemary to thyme, raisins, cinnamon, cheese, and more. This is a GREAT one to learn how to make bread; we are going to be making a couple of loaves a week for our family with this one. Here’s how you can do it:

Basic Bread Recipe

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp yeast
  • 1.5 cups warm water
  1. Mix everything together; it will be a very sticky mixture. Cover with plastic wrap until it doubles (mine took 3 hours).   
  2. Flip the bowl out onto a floured sheet of wax paper, and form into a ball; place back into the bowl still on top of the wax paper and cover again while preheating. Preheat the oven to 425 with the dutch oven/oven safe pot with a lid (I used a cast iron skillet).
  3. Place the wax paper and the dough into the HOT pan, and cover. Bake for 30 minutes. Uncover, and bake an additional 15-30 minutes with NO COVER (just depending on how crusty you want the bread to be).
  4. Let cool, and slice. Round loaves are easiest to slice if you slice in half, place the cut edge down, and then cut into slices.
