I started couponing in 2011 because there was more month than there was money, even though we both work full time. I saw an episode of Extreme Couponing, and I decided that if we could cut out expenses by 30%, we would have some breathing room. I did not realize what I was getting myself into at the time. Using coupons has cut our expenses by 90%, and we have been able to pay off MOUNTAINS of debt (paying off one disconnect notice to another is pretty tough; I am incredibly grateful that we have been able to get out of that cycle), and save a ton of money. We just paid for our wedding and honeymoon cash (YES, like cash, NO debt on these!!), and purchased our first home through the money that we saved from these thrifty techniques, plus we even stocked up on the first FULL year of diapers and wipes for our son for FREE; our family is living proof that this works! Many people ask me how clipping a $0.50 coupon could save me any actual “money”. Since 2011, I have not been “using coupons”; I have been KOUPONING.
This is not your grandmother’s coupon resource. I am an extreme saver, not an extreme couponer. There are so many ways to save on everything in your life, and you don’t have to clear shelves, spend 9 hours in a store, and purchase 16 carts of groceries to do it. You can save on all of your expenses to free up money for the things in life that actually matter. I started this blog as a way for my friends and family to be able to save money (and time!). I think that it is important that people know that you do not have to struggle financially to support your family. I believe that living frugally is the best way to live lavishly, and by following some of the tips and tricks here, you will be able to do the same!
