Here’s an AWESOME double din stereo deal for you, at just $118.99 with the limited time deal (we have the first option with both the REAR and DASH camera included at this price)! We have no experience with installations or wiring or anything, but needed to get a touchscreen added in to the car. We looked at units for several weeks and decided that this one really had everything that we would need, along with YouTube University, to get this job done. I had called around for a couple of installation quotes, and at around $500 I decided that we could try to do this ourselves, and if you are any kind of a handy person, the setup is pretty straight forward.

The wiring was the scariest part; this should probably be soldered, but electrical tape works just fine. Just match up each of the colored wires together and connect them with a harness specific for your vehicle; I used this Red Wolf Wiring Harness for $15, double checking the descriptions of each of the wires from the kit to the car-specific wiring. The ones we didn’t use were for steering wheel controls, which my car doesn’t have; anything unused needs to be taped up, and if it doesn’t match you might need to google those specific wires (my one unmatched was the brake bypass wire, which needs to be connected to the ground wires). Once that is all put together, you can open up your dash and plug in each of the connections, which is pretty simple. Then just test the functionality of everything before you mount it.

In addition, you will likely need a trim kit specific for your car; I used this Metra Double Din Trim Kit for $13 and it fits perfectly. I will probably add in a set of spacers to bring the top corners forward the next time I open this up, but otherwise this really gave it a nice seamless look. The dashcam is simple to mount on the dash or put the wiring around the windshield to mount up by the rear mirror. This will connect to the 12V wires so that it is running at all times in case your car is hit while it is parked, and it can record the event.

The rear camera was definitely the tricky one. You will need to run the wire through the car/SUV, or since this was for a truck, we actually went under the truck and ran the wire all the way to the license plate underneath, attaching the wiring to the wire harness that is already under the truck with zipties. In order to mount the camera without drilling any holes, we used this simple camera license plate bracket for $6, which just screws in under your license plate. The wiring connects to the camera and the reverse tail light so that it will activate when you put the car in reverse. We used these splicers for $2 so that we wouldn’t need to actually cut the wire, connecting the red camera wire to the hot tail light wire, and the black camera wire to a truck bolt to serve as a ground. Then just reinstall the tail light, and test everything out, and you should be good to go!

This display connects to your phone for internet via bluetooth automatically when you get in the car, and will run all of your maps, make phone calls, and can even use mirror link to cast your phone onto the screen, plus it comes with a remote as well. Overall I have been so happy with how it looks and functions, and especially since I was looking at units around $400 with a $500 installation, and finished everything for under $200 with everything included, I couldn’t be happier.
