As parents of a one year old, we DESPERATELY need whatever bits of sleep we can get. Although we have a mattress that is only a couple of years old, we decided to try the new Eight mattress, made with smart technology. They even have options that will allow you to track your sleep, wake up with silent alarms, heat one side of the bed, and more! I was very excited to find a mattress that was “designed with couples in mind” since both of us are up multiple times, whether with the baby, work schedules, or whatever, and this would hopefully help us from waking each other up more than we were already getting up.
I was a little skeptical of ordering a mattress online, but all of the reviews for this one are great, so I just went for it. I was not prepared, however, for what arrived. Hubby thought it was a water heater; this large box, just 18″ x 18″ came in, and I couldn’t believe that it was a mattress!
Opening up the top panels revealed instructions on how to unroll the insides, but it was pretty self-explanatory. We removed the mattress from inside the box, and laid it on the box spring. The mattress had been SUPER vacuum sealed, and was less than an inch thick. As soon as we cut the plastic, the whole thing sprung up to 10″ thick; a full sized, ready to go, mattress!
The mattress is very firm, but it is definitely not hard. I laid down on the mattress while my son was jumping on the corner as we had first unrolled it, and I could not feel him moving; a great first sign! Our sheets and everything fit the mattress perfectly; this is a standard size, foam mattress. It is available in twin, queen, king, and California king, so it will be an easy swap. We have been using it now for about 2 weeks, and I have noticed a DRASTIC improvement on the quality of our sleep. When one of us gets up in the middle of the night, it has not yet woken the other person. In addition, when one of us is tossing and turning (*AHEM* hubby!), it doesn’t wake me up either. I have also been wearing a sleep tracker for the past month, and the amount of “restless” time that I am in bed (not necessarily awake, but I am not sleeping soundly) has been cut in half. We also used to have a pillow top mattress before, which had a hard edge to it where the pillow top met the mattress, making the edges uncomfortable to lay on (or leave your leg out); this mattress is absolutely seamless.
I have never tried a foam mattress, but I don’t think I will EVER go back to a different kind. This one is made with “smart technology”, where Eight has logged thousands of hours of test sleep and made the perfect mattress to get the most sound night’s sleep. There are four layers to this mattress to help support and contour to your body:
In addition, there is another layer that you can add for “smarter sleep”. This includes a smart alarm, white noise player, bed temperature, and more! This looks like absolute magic, and would be a great addition to the Eight mattress (or even your current mattress!).
Finally, Eight offers a 100 night free trial, with free shipping. Their packages are delivered quickly, and it is a risk free trial. In addition, they have even put together a program EXCLUSIVE for Kouponing With Katie readers! Right now you can save 15% on EVERYTHING on their website, from mattresses to trackers, and more!
