I just tried the new PepBaby Child Safety Locks, and I am very happy with them! They appear to be very durable, and were super quick and easy to install. I also liked the fact that they came in a pack of 8, because it seems like every time I turn around we are childproofing another area of the house. You will probably need 3 packs for your home (maybe a bit more with cabinet latches), but these are very versatile, and will work on everything from your fridge to cabinets to toilets and more. The plastic band between the two latch portions is a very heavy duty plastic. As this is the area that gets stretched out in these types of latches, that is very important as it is a big point of failing on most latch systems. The latch opens with just one hand, which you know is a big deal since most of the things that you do now only involve one hand being available, and the other corralling your little one. We have been baby proofing the house since our son started crawling (at 6 months!), and he is now 14 months old and we are still coming up with new things (about 1 a week) that have to get locked up. I HAVE to have a package of locks available to fix his newest find, and these fit the bill of being affordable, versatile, durable, and easily/quickly installed.
