Especially with all of the craziness in our lives right now, I LOVE trying out these different meal delivery services to help take one more thing off of our to-do list! This week we tried Sun Basket, and we were VERY impressed. You have a wide variety of meals available to choose from each week, and you can customize them by the number of servings and proteins, as well as the total number of meals each week that are delivered. These have simple, step by step instructions, and come together quickly with pre-measured ingredients. I found that there was a greater quantity of food per meal with this company than with others that we have tried, and it also included a lot more vegetables than the other companies did as well. I love the different types of flavors from around the world that we were able to get in these boxes, really changing it up from the “same old recipes” that we normally make. For this week’s box, we received 4 meals for the week; I cooked all 4 meals with two crazy kiddos racing around, so the prep and cooking was all pretty simple. Here’s what we got in our box:
Greek Skewers w/Arugula Pear Salad & Hazelnuts – Easy to put together, and I love the Greek seasonings included and mound of fresh veggies! These had a great seasoning in the meat, and there was a ton crunchy salad to go with it.
Moroccan Chicken in Chraime Sauce w/Sweet Potato Mash – Packed with flavor and SO easy to throw together!! This one was super hearty, and will be a great one to add to our recipe book to make again.
Korean Tteokbokki Rice Cake Stir Fry w/Shitake Mushrooms – This is one of my favorite things about these meal boxes; learning new recipes, techniques, and ingredients. These rice cakes are basically like gnocchi but made with rice instead of potatoes, and it has an amazing Asian sauce with spicy gochujang paste. SO delicious, and a new one all around for us!
Sheet Pan Chicken Fennel Meatballs with Root Vegetable Salad – The incredibly yummy caper vinaigrette totally made the meal, and the roasted onions were amazing in this dish. I loved how many vegetables were added by shaving them instead of our usual dicing; I am excited to do this one with our garden crops in a few months.
Overall I was extremely happy with these meals. My husband didn’t finish a single one because they were just too filling, and all of the recipes had new ingredients or techniques that we had never used before. The meal box made our preparations SO much easier for the week (especially since we still aren’t going to grocery stores), and the amount of vegetables in each of the dishes was very impressive. I would highly recommend trying them out to see what you think, even if it is to just add a box once a month, send for a newly married couple, as a housewarming idea, or even as a great one for a new baby arrival. Check them out here with an awesome $40 off to try out your first box, and let us know what you think!!
